From the South Wales Voice 17th March 1945:-

KILLED IN ACTION

News has been received by Mrs David Walters, Alltygrug Road, that her eldest son, Private Emrys Walters, has been killed in action. Before being called up he was employed as a collier's assistant at Pwllbach Colliery. Deep sympathy is extended to his mother and family.

RHIWFAWR

A Memorial Service in memory of Private Emrys Walters who was killed in action on the Continent earlier this year will be held at Gwrhyd Chapel on Sunday evening.
