SGT GLYNDWR GUERRIER (568519) RAF, Aged 23. Killed 02/02/1943

He was killed whilst flying as Flight Engineer in Halifax II, W7882 DY-P of No 102 Sqn. Took off at 18.53 from Pocklington, Yorkshire tasked with bombing Köln. The aircraft collided at 21.00 with Lancaster, W4819 of No 44 Sqn and came down 20 miles from Eindhoven. The crews of both aircraft were killed and are buried in Eindhoven (Woensel) General Cemetery. Sgt Guerrier had enlisted in the RAF as an apprentice in 1935. (RAF Halton 32nd Entry)

From the South Wales Voice newspaper, 9th February 1946 came confirmation of Glyndwr's death:-

WORST FEARS REALISED

Mr and Mrs Ebenezer Guerrier, Island House Commercial Street, have now received official notification that their son Flight Sergeant Glyndwr Guerrier RAF, who was previously been reported as missing, was killed in operation over Cologne and was buried at Gestel, near Eindhoven Holland, on 2nd February 1943.
